Kryvyi Rih Botanical Garden of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine – is an establishment of national level (since 1983). Since 1975 it was a strong point of Donets'k Botanical Garden of NASU. It was founded in 1980 in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovs'k region. At that same time actual building and creation started. As independent structure the Botanical Garden has functioned since 1992. Its area is 52,4 ha. There are 4 scientific departments: Department of Plants Introduction and Acclimatization, Department of Industrial Landscapes Optimization, Department of Nature Flora, Department of Plants Physiology and Soil Biochemistry. Collection fund includes trees and bushes – 665 species and forms, 120 kinds; decorative flowers – 811 species, forms and kinds; tropical and subtropical – 890 taxons; medicinal – 170 species; rare and exhaustive – 165 species; ground covering – 124 species; nature flora plant species – 520. Main trends of scientific work are: distracted lands remediation bases development, plants introduction and acclimatization, their use for industrial environment optimization, genetic fond protection in industrial regions. These scientific researches have a great value for environmental problems salvation in Kryvyi Rih. Results of the work are published book of rare and exhaustive plants in Dnipropetrovs'k region («Атлас рідкісних i зникаючих видів Дніпропетровщини»), developed scientific bases of plant use for biological stage of different types distracted industrial lands remediation. We recommended more than 100 trees species, 85 herbs and species, 150 – for interior phytodesign. The Botanical Garden holds research common with other scientific establishments of Ukraine and other countries. It is a member of Botanical Gardens International Council for Plants Protection.
